Health and Safety Manager

At Green Create we are seeking to recruit a Health & Safety Manager to work within our operations division! The role involves travelling to various sites across our site in Kent, England; Holwerd, the Netherlands; Wijster, the Netherlands and Southern African plants. You will facilitate compliance with legislative, corporate, and other requirements in relation to health & safety and assist in the coordination of all activities related to the implementation, development, and maintenance of the Safety Management Systems (SMS).

Responsibility and duties

We offer you a lot of responsibility and duties, such as:

  • To ensure that the requirements of the SMS are being applied on site and administrative offices for the business, by means of periodic inspection, audits, and meetings
  • Monitoring and facilitating compliance to the SMS and the requirements of BS OHSAS 45001
  • To provide information, training and instruction and task-specific advice to operational and managerial personnel
  • Training and induction of staff into the documented safety management systems
  • Raising health & safety awareness and responsibility throughout the business
  • Coordinate and complete internal health & safety planning meetings, inspections and audits for the business
  • Contribute to the review and revision of health & safety policies, plans, documented procedures and forms
  • Facilitate the production of health & safety related performance information, including but not restricted to corporate and health & safety objectives
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement
  • Support the Head of Operations in achieving corporate, legislative, and other requirements
  • Report Group wide Health and Safety KPI’s in accordance with the SMS
  • Ensuring all site meets as a minimum local jurisdiction & requirement

Requirements and qualifications

  • Relevant health & safety experience in construction and operations
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, or equivalent
  • A qualified internal health & safety auditor with demonstrable experience of completing internal audits. Lead Auditor status is beneficial but not essential
  • An understanding of the requirements of BS OHSAS 45001 and experience in facilitating registration surveillance visits
  • A working knowledge of current and impending health & safety legislation
  • Good presentation, written, analytical and IT skills
  • Training and presentation experience throughout all levels of an organisation
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and educate/train at all levels
  • Self-confidence to build strong working relationships internally and externally
  • Demonstrable achievement in a similar role

    Engineering

    As an Engineer, you will be taking an active role in designing, documenting, constructing,

    commissioning, and optimizing a Biogas Production Plant within the existing Green-Create

    Engineering and Development Division. This new position will facilitate the construction,

    commissioning and operational disciplines required to successfully complete and operate valuable new projects.

    • Assist the Senior Engineer to successfully manage the documentation, construction, commissioning, training, and operational handover of the biogas production plant
    • Manage and co-ordinate contractors, review equipment specifications and quotations, review designs and drawings (internal and supplied by others)

    Requirements and qualifications

    • Practical experience within the Biogas Production Industry
    • Related Engineering Degree

      Engineering Technician

      As an Engineering Technician, you will be taking an active role in technically documenting a Biogas Production Plant within the existing Green-Create Engineering and Development Division. This new position will facilitate the execution of procurement and construction documentation to successfully aid in the planning and construction of valuable new projects.

      • Assist the Engineers to successfully generate procurement and construction documentation including BFD’s, PFD’s, P&ID’s, 2D, and 3D models including associated pipework designs and Isometric piping Drawings
      • Recognise trends and anomalies in production data

      Requirements and qualifications

      • Understanding of typical components used within the Biogas production process and its associated infrastructure. (Piping, pumps, valves, and instruments etc)
      • Draughting or engineering background experience, preferably in process piping
      • Drafting P&ID’s for process equipment, preferably in waste to energy biogas plants.
      • Experience with Instrumentation and valve hook-up details
      • Familiar and competent with AutoCAD 2D and 3D – Autodesk Plant 3D or Autodesk Inventor is a bonus
      • Incorporate review comments and changes
      • Work in a team to achieve project completion

        Maintenance Operator

        As a Maintenance Operator, you will be responsible for completing operator checks to establish the plants maintenance requirements, complete maintenance tasks as issued by the Maintenance Coordinator as part of the
        maintenance scheduling. The Maintenance Operator is part of both the Operational team and the Maintenance team and is a key function to continuously improve the facility and ensure it operates at a sustainable level for the long term.

        • Work closely with the Field Operator or Control Room Operator.
        • Monitor the process in the field and on Scada to ensure it continues to operate as planned.
        • Manage the maintenance tasks in your shift as allocated and planned by the Maintenance Coordinator.
        • Resolve malfunction with additional communication from the Site Manager, Production Manager of Maintenance Coordinator.
        • Troubleshooting, electrical and mechanical problems on the site with the operations team and resolve.
        • Assist the Control Room Operator with data collection.
        • Keep the Maintenance Coordinator informed of spare parts used and ensure the coordinator is fully up to speed on materials consumed
        • Manage suppliers or contractors doing work on site and ensure they have cleaned and finished their work after completion and signing off permit to work.
        • Do a daily site walk around and record anything out or order – as part of the operations checklist.
        • Take responsibility to keep the site clean from trash, materials placed by contractors and other materials.
        • Assist in assigned maintenance activities.

        Requirements and qualifications

        • Mechanical qualification or practical experience in maintenance work
        • Electrical qualification
        • Established mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting skills
        • General working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
        • Must be able to work independently
        • Excellent communication skills
        • Valid driver’s license

          Control Room Operator

          As a Control Room Operator you will work in the office and remotely communicate with other Operators on various sites to support fault finding and assist with performance tracking. The Control Room Operator will take ownership of plant performance and process monitoring and tackle challenges to help Green Create achieve their operational goals. This is an analytic role where a willingness to learn and commitment to data analysis is crucial.

          • Monitor the various operational plants ongoing production.
          • Troubleshoot operators on-site to resolve electrical and/or mechanical problems remotely.
          • Communicate to various stakeholders the situation on sites.
          • Assist with process monitoring and comparing the different plants comparable with each other.
          • Set-up a key-learnings report to carry over to other plants and design team to improve on future design and operations.
          • Assist with administrative task on preparing performance data for various stakeholders.
          • Review and think of process improvements on process controls or design.
          • Capture failures and actions taken to resolve to build an in-house library on site troubleshooting.
          • Review on-site personal procedures and flag missing data or checks.

          Requirements and qualifications

          • 1 – 5 years of site operations and other related experience.
          • Process engineering background is advantageous.
          • Strong mechanical aptitude and background.
          • Strong electrical aptitude and background.
          • General working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
          • Established troubleshooting skills in industrial processes.
          • Understanding P&ID’s and site layouts.
          • Have previous experience in SCADA operations.
          • Have a keen eye for detail.
          • Ability to analyze vast amount of information and convert this into a presentable presentation.
          • Must be able to work independently, self-motivate, and communicate effectively.

            Feedstock and strategic business developer

            As a Feedstock & Strategic Business Developer, you will be a member of the Business Development team at Green Create. In this role, you’re always up-to-date with the latest market developments in terms of acquiring feedstocks that can be used for producing renewable energy. Many of our products require significant amounts of animal waste, which can be complemented with other types of organic and industrial waste. It is crucial that you have a good understanding of these markets in order to successfully build relationships with partners in the industry and secure a long-term supply of feedstock for our sites.

            Requirements and qualifications

            • At least 4 years of relevant work experience
            • Open, ambitious and strong commercial capabilities
            • Excellent networking skills
            • Good verbal and written communication skills in English, Dutch language is an advantage
            • Background in agriculture, livestock farming and feed/food is an advantage
            • Driver’s license (50% travel is required for this position)
